(SeafoodSource) Seventeen U.S. senators signed a 24 April letter to Debbie Stabenow, chair of the senate’s Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, urging her to repeal a rule that would transfer inspection of imported catfish from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Asia Co.,Ltd: Processed seafood exports remains stable

(vasep.com.vn) Asia Canned Products Import-Export Company Limited claimed that they exported 139 MT seafood from January to July 2014 earning US$ 950,000 in 7 initial months of 2014. Europe is currently a major export market of this company, accounted for 60% of the total turnover, followed by the South Korea with 30%.

Australia becomes a promising market for Vietnam shrimp

(vasep.com.vn) In Jan 2012, Vietnam shrimp exports to some key markets such as Japan, the U.S. and EU fell sharply from 12.2 percent to 16.3 percent on that of the same period of 2011. Shrimp exports to China (including Hong Kong), Canada or Taiwan also reduced. In contrast, Australia emerges as a potential market of Vietnam shrimp which marked a positive growth in Jan 2012.
