Pangasius exports to Brazil increased by 17.2%

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In Jan 2017, Vietnam’s exports of pangasius to Brazil were quite good over the same period last year with the export value of US$12.1 million, up 17.2% compared with Jan 2016. If the growth continues in the coming months, Brazil will replace ASEAN as the fourth largest importing market of Vietnam pangasius (after the US, the EU and China – Hongkong).

Soc Trang towards high-quality “Vietnamese shrimp” brand

Recently, Soc Trang province has planned to construct the first high-quality shrimp breeding center on an area of 23-hectare area with the total capital of VND 40 billion.

Ho Chi Minh City: Fisheries production in the first 2 months estimated at 9,222 tons

Ho Chi Minh City’s fisheries production in February 2017 was estimated at 4,956.7 tons, increased by 7.9% month – on – month, in which aquaculture production was about 3,238 tons, up 7.3%, with 1,095 tons of fish (up 17.1%), 863 tons of shrimp (up 16.2%).

Shrimp farming in Bac Lieu province – Opportunities and challenges

Located in the southern part of the country, Bac Lieu province has dense canal systems which are served for both agriculture and aquaculture production. Also, Bac Lieu has a number of big canals, namely Quan Lo – Phung Hiep, Canh Den, Pho Sinh and Gia Rai. With these unique geographical location, natural conditions, environmental conditions, Bac Lieu has potentials for development of shrimp farming.

Kien Giang targets its shrimp production at 63 thousand tons in 2017

The Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang has targeted its blackish water shrimp production at 63,000 tons on an area of 113,000 ha this year. Of this total farming area, industrial and semi-industrial farming area is 2,600 ha, with production of 16,240 tons, shrimp - rice farming area is 89,000 ha, with output of 40,838 tons and the rest is improved-extensive farming area, with ouput of 5,922 tons.

Ca Mau develops ecological crab farming

The southernmost province of Ca Mau plans to develop extensive crab farming, especially in ecological environment, to improve its economic value and serve exports, said Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Chau Cong Bang.

Binh Thuan approves seafood cluster

Da Nang: Fishery output reached 6,122 MT in Jan-Feb 2017

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) The fishery output of Da Nang province (Vietnam) in Feb 2017 estimated at 3,309 MT, down 2.1% over the same period in 2016, of which capture output reached 3,241 MT, down 2.19% over the same period in 2016, aquaculture production reached 68 MT, down 2.57% over the same period in 2016.

Hai Phong: Fisheries production estimated at 11.796 MT in Feb 2017

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) The aquaculture area in Feb 2017 in Hai Phong province (Vietnam) estimated at 10,660.7 ha, down 0.2% over the same period last year, of which the area of black tiger shrimp farming was 1,816.7 ha, equal to the same period of last year; whiteleg shrimp was 235.8 ha, down 1.67% over the same period last year.
