(vasep.com.vn) In 2013, Thailand’s shrimp sector suffered a severe loss by Early Mortality Syndrome (EMS) outbreak. This led to a drastic fall in its shrimp output and export. Although EMS has been controlled in Thailand in 2014, its shrimp sector still needs several years to have a full recovery.

After five years of implementing

(vasep.com.vn) Through April 2014, Ngoc Tri Seafood Company exported 10 containers of shrimp products to China, compared to 2 containers in a year ago. The year-to-date export value was US$1.5 million.

Shrimp farms located in districts including Dam Doi (2,662 hectares), Phu Tan (1,857 hectares), Cai Nuoc (1,503 hectares), Ca Mau city (760 hectares) and Tran Van Thoi (583 hectares).

Thailand’s stock-listed shrimp and tuna processors had a bloody 2013, as early mortality syndrome (EMS) in shrimp, volatile tuna prices and exchange rates wiped out their earnings.

(vasep.com.vn) In Q.I/2014, Vietnam's shrimp exports totaled over US$798 million, up 88 percent year on year. Shrimp shipment reported the highest growth among total exports of main items from Vietnam.

(vasep.com.vn) In the first months of 2014, shrimp exports of Cafatex Corporation to Japan was slowing down compared to the same time of 2013. The company has still kept business and ensured jobs for its workers thanks to its traditional importers.
