The Undersecretariat of Fisheries of the Nation reported that between 1 January and 28 June, 2013 a total of 19,021.8 tonnes of shrimp (Pleoticus muelleri) was landed in Argentinean ports.

US retailer Hy-Vee is struggling to get its hands on shrimp, despite its diversified sourcing strategy, reports Jeanine Stewart of Undercurrent News.

However, thank to the efforts made by seafood companies in Hau Giang - a province in Mekong Delta - seafood production and exports started to grow positively. Their most concern now is the lack of skillful workers in processing plants.

While Vietnam has successfully handled with the shrimp EMS (early mortality syndrome), the epidemic has been spread out in many countries, including Thailand. This could be the golden opportunity for Vietnam to become the biggest shrimp exporter.
