(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Vinh Long Province is stepping up efforts to develop brackish water shrimp farming in a sustainable direction, identifying it as a key sector in its agricultural structure. In 2026, the province aims to reach around 71,300 hectares of shrimp farming, with an output of over 314,000 tons.

To achieve this goal, the province is implementing a range of synchronized measures, including environmental monitoring, disease surveillance, improving seed quality, and promoting the application of science and technology. At the same time, Vinh Long is focusing on building closed-loop value chains from hatchery production and farming to processing and consumption in order to increase added value.
In addition, investments in irrigation infrastructure, electricity, and transportation, along with the development of high-tech farming models, are helping to improve productivity, reduce risks, and protect the environment.
This approach is expected to enable Vinh Long’s shrimp industry to grow steadily, adapt to climate change, and improve farmers’ incomes.
