Vinh Hoan adds 5,000t pangasius surimi production line

Vietnam’s largest exporter of pangasius, Vinh Hoan Corporation, has invested in surimi production, including raw material blocks and crab sticks.

After adding a surimi raw material production line at its plant in Cao Lanh city, Dong Thap province, in 2023, the company has an annual processing capacity of 5,000 metric tons.

The move comes as part of a strategy that sees the company striving to fully optimize the value chain of pangasius.The surimi products, both raw material and finished items, have achieved the Aquaculture Stewardship Council certification.

Vinh Hoan’s pangasius surimi block, packed in a 10-kilogram box, has different grades based on the gel strength, such as 500-700 and 1,000 ups. Meanwhile, the company has just launched a ready-to-eat surimi noodle product called “Protein Pho Fusion.” The main market includes the Asian community in the US, Europe and Asian countries..

As the noodle comes with steamed pangasius meat and vannamei shrimp, Vinh Hoan looks to capture the demands of health-conscious consumers.

Lucky Bag, another surimi-based new product for the company, won the Innovation Award at the Seafood Expo Global 2024.
