A representative of Vinh Hoan stated that Producing collagen and gelatin from fish skin helps the company maximize utilization, both reduce costs and expand its product range into functional foods and cosmetics.

Dr. Duong Nghia Quoc – Chairman of the Vietnam Pangasius Association – stated that by-products such as heads, bones, skin, fins, red meat, belly flaps, and stomachs are currently used to produce fish meal for export to China, while fish fat is processed into food or cosmetic ingredients.
Although not yet included in official export statistics, the value generated from pangasius by-products could contribute billions of USD. If fully utilized, the industry’s total export revenue could achieve 3–4 billion USD annually.
