Ho Chi Minh City: Fishery production total 57,000 MT in 2016
(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In 2016, total fishery production in Ho Chi Minh city (Vietnam) estimated at 57,412.7 MT, up 3.3% over the previous year. Of that, aquaculture output amounted to 37,485 MT, up 10.6% (shrimp volume accounted for 37.3%, up 8.8%; the output of other seafood items took up 47.4%, up 35.6%); capture output hit at 19,927.8 MT, down 8.1% year on year.
In Can Gio district, as of 4th Dec 2016, there were 543 farming households of black tiger shrimp with 147 million seeds covering the area of 2,335.8 hectares. Meanwhile, there were 2,890 farming households of whiteleg shrimp with 1,190.8 million seeds covering the area of 2,899.3 hectares.
