Upto November 2007, fishery production of Ca Mau province in the South of Vietnam totalled at 272,000 MT, up 108% compared to the production of 2006. In which, 124,000 MT are from wild-catch, 148,000 MT from farming.
According to the report from Cau Mau Fisheries Department, the province processed 76,600 MT of seafood, of which frozen shrimp was 56,000 MT, other products: 6,600 MT.
During Jan - November 2007, seafood exports from Ca Mau province hit the US$ 553.3 million, an increase of 99.9% over the same period of last year. Seafood products of the province are maily exported to three major markets including Japan (28.3% of the export value), US (26.3%) and EU (16.6%).
