Pangasius production in the period in some regional provinces reported year-on-year reduction. However, pangasius output and superficies for fish production in two provinces of Tien Giang and Ben Tre saw the increase.

In Q.I/2014, the average price of imported frozen pangasius fillets was US$3.09 per kilogram in the British market, up 5.1 percent against US$2.94 per kilogram in 2013.

(vasep.com.vn) In the first months of this year, frozen catfish fillets imported by Poland mainly came from Vietnam, not from China as before. Pangasius from Vietnam accounted for 94 percent of the total volume of goods imported by the market. The remaining of 6 percent was imported from Denmark and Germany.

(vasep.com.vn) According to Vietnam Customs, through May 2014, pangasius exports by the country to the U.S. totaled US$126.6 million, down 26 percent year on year. After consecutively three-month reduction in Vietnam pangasius exports to the U.S. with the proportion of 18.6 percent of its total sales, EU surpassed the U.S. to claim the largest market of Vietnam pangasius. Exports to EU made up 20.7 percent of Vietnam’s total fish exports.
