Vietnam’s pangasius exports in October 2022 reached the lowest level

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Although still up 31% over the same period, the export turnover of 179 million USD in October recorded the lowest level since the beginning of 2022. The export growth rate over the same period last year was also the lowest. By the end of October, Vietnam pangasius exports reached 2.1 billion USD, up 75% compared to the same in 2021.

Vietnam pangasius exports by the end of October 2022 reached 2.1 billion USD

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to customs statistics, Vietnam's pangasius exports as of October 15, 2022 reached more than 2 million USD, up 81% over the same period last year. It is estimated that by the end of October, pangasius exports will bring in over $2.1 billion. In particular, in October 2022 alone, pangasius exports were estimated at US$159 million, up 16%.

China – The main market for Vietnamese pangasius in 2022

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to Customs statistics, by mid-October 2022, the country's pangasius exports reached 2.06 billion USD, an increase of 60% over the same period in 2022. By the end of October 2022, pangasius exports is forecast to earn nearly 2.2 billion USD in foreign currency, an increase of 80% compared to the same period in 2021. Of which, the Chinese market alone accounted for 30% with about 654 million USD, up 110%.

Inflation started affecting imports of pangasius in different markets

However, looking at the export performance in September, we can see that inflation has strongly hit all food and seafood industries, not excluding pangasius.

Was pangasius export growth of 100% in September 2022 an optimistic sign?

In particular, exports to many markets such as China, Brazil, Thailand, England, the Netherlands, Australia, Singapore, etc increased by 2-3 times compared to the same period last year. Most impressive was exports to Germany in September 2022, increased 41 times over the same period and to Peru increased 17 times.

Many ASEAN countries increased imports of Vietnamese pangasius

By the end of September 2022, Vietnam's pangasius exports to ASEAN countries are estimated at more than 152 million USD, accounting for nearly 8% of total pangasius exports.

Vietnam pangasius exports to Brazil “turned the table”

Pangasius exports in the last 3 months have gradually dropped from the peak of 310 million USD in April, but have tended to recover since August.

Price of Vietnam frozen pangasius export to the US increase by 56%

In which, pangasius exports to the US accounted for 23%, equivalent to 421 million USD, an increase of 87%.

Vietnam pangasius exports to the UK in August 2022 increased 3 times over the same period

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) The UK is among the top 10 Vietnam’s seafood import markets, accounting for 3% of seafood export value. In the first 8 months of 2022, Vietnam seafood exports to the UK increased by 3.5% to 213 million USD, of which pangasius exports accounted for 47 million USD.
