Tuna exports to China recovered in September 2021

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) While Vietnam's tuna exports to major markets such as the US, EU and CPTPP declined, exports to China increased. According to Customs statistics, the total value of tuna exports to this market in the first nine months of 2021 reached more than $4 million, up 66% over the same period in 2020.

Tuna exports to China recovered in September 2021

Since the end of July, the 4th wave of Covid-19 outbreak in Vietnam has slowed down Vietnam's tuna exports to this market. However, in September, exports to this market recovered, up 91% over the same period.

Exports of all groups of tuna products from Vietnam to China in the first 9 months of this year increased over the same period, except for the group of fresh, frozen and dried tuna (HS code 03, excluding HS code 0304). In terms of value, exports of frozen loins, fillets and tuna meat accounted for the highest proportion of tuna exports to this market, accounting for 68%, followed by other groups of products. canned tuna products accounted for 26%. Compared to the same period in 2020, exports of frozen tuna loins, fillets, and tuna meat products increased the most, up 145% over the same period.

As of September 2021, the average export price of frozen tuna with HS code 030487 to China - Hong Kong ranges from 6.05 to 8.17 USD/kg.
