Vietnam seafood attended Future Fish Eurasia Turkey 2012

(vasep.com.vn) In June 5th 2012, representatives from enterprises of Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) attended the sixth international fair in Izmir, Turkey which is intended for seafood importers, exporters, processors, participants operating in aquaculture and fishing. This is the first time enterprises of VASEP have joined in the fair.

In 2009, Vietnam seafood exports to Turkey only touched nearly US$978 thousand. In 2010, exports to the market reported four-fold increase of US$ 4.4 million and in 2011, exports continued to increase to US$4.8 million. In the first four months of 2012, seafood exports to Turkey reached over US$1.9 million in which pangasius accounted for 80 percent of total export turnover.

In 2011, pangasius took the lead in Vietnam seafood export structure to Turkey, followed by shrimp, finfish, mollusk, crustacean, crab, swimming crab…In 2012, it is expected that seafood exports to the market will rise by 5-10 percent over the same period of 2011. Joining in the fair this year, pangasius enterprises will understand more about the potential market.
