Viet Nam-Brazil trade exceeds US$2 billion

Two-way trade between Viet Nam and Brazil hit a record US$2.33 billion in 2013, representing a year-on-year rise of 42.3 pecent.

According to the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Vietnam exported $1.14 billion worth of goods to Brazil while importing commodities worth $1.19 billion from the Latin American country, up 39.6 and 45 percent respectively.

Vietnam mainly shipped phone appliances, footwear, frozen fillets, printers, yarn and rubber to Brazil. Its major import items from the country included soybean, maize, cotton, iron, steel and tobacco.

The ministry said trade between the two countries has constantly increased since 2000, from over $109 million in 2005 to more than $1 billion in 2011.
