On November 6th, representatives of Vietnam Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) and experts from ASEAN countries had attended a meeting aiming at setting up a regional common fishery laboratory network.
This is a part of the project on strengthening working efficiency of fishery laboratories in ASEAN countries (Appis II), which is supported by European Union.
Being a participant of the project, Vietnam proposed to upgrade some regional branches of the National Fisheries Quality Assurance and Veterinary Directorate (Nafiqaved) to common laboratories for ASEAN. In particular, Vietnam requested support from Appis II for upgrading Nafiqaved branches in region 1, 4 and 6 to be ASEAN laboratories for testing and verifying veterinary drugs, marine biotoxin, histamine and microbiology.
