By July 2010, seafood export reached 2.49 billion USD, up 13.3% as compared to the same period last year.
EU has become the leading importer of Vietnamese seafood in the first seven months of 2010 with value of 624 million USD, up 5.5% against the same period of 2009. Japan ranked the second with 459 million USD, up 18.4%, while the U.S ranked the third with 418 million USD, up 11.5%.
The main catagories of Vietnamese exported seafood were shrimp, pangasius, octopus, squid and fish products. Generally, these catafories accounted for 97% of total exported seafood volume of the country.
