(vasep.com.vn) According to Ministry of Industry and Trade, the fifth round of the negotiation on Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Vietnam and South Korea took place in Seoul (Korea) from May 20-23, 2014.
The fifth round has seen important progresses made in tariff, rule of origin, services, investment, legal issue and institutions, trade defence, sanitary and phytosanitory measures (SPS), technical barriers to trade agreement (TBT) and economic cooperation.
In the round, Vietnam asked Korea to give appropriate consideration to Vietnam's key export products such as seafood and farm products (rice, fruit and vegetables) while committing to pay attention to the interests of Korean exporters with better conditions compared to the ASEAN-Korea Free Trade Agreement (AKFTA).
The six round of negotiation will be held in mid July 2014 in Vietnam.
