The Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) is pleased to announce that the Finnish Fish Guide now includes ASC labeled farmed fish for the first time.
Following the Dutch, Swedish, Indonesian, Spanish and Belgian versions; the Finnish guide is the latest one to offer consumers help in choosing sustainably farmed seafood.
“We are delighted that ASC responsibly farmed products are now included in the Finnish Fish Guide. I would like to thank WWF Finland for their cooperation and dedication in making this possible. This will give us increased visibility and enable us to make further progress in the Finnish market to promote sales of products from certified farms,” said ASC’s CEO Chris Ninnes.
“Norwegian salmon is the most consumed fish in Finland and WWF is waiting for ASC-certified salmon to enter the Finnish market, as this would help improve the sustainability of fish consumption among Finns,” said Sampsa Vilhunen, head of WWF Finland’s marine program.
The Fish Guide is developed by WWF, Seafood Choices Alliance, North Sea Foundation and the Marine Conservation Society. It is available in more than 18 countries around the world and aims to help consumers when it comes to making responsible seafood choices.
