Action month for inspecting quality of agricultural materials and ensuring agricultural food hygiene & safety

The campaign will improve awareness

Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has decided to launch an Action month for inspecting quality of agricultural materials and ensuring agricultural food hygiene & safety from October 10th to November 10th 2007 through out the country. The aims of this campaign is to improve awareness and responsibility of local organizations, individual producers, business, service providers in the agricultural materials, agricultural and fishery products  for implementation of the national regulations for food quality, hygiene and safety; to enhance performance productivity, quality of crop plants and domestic animals; to push up consumption and  export. Any violation detected will be treated seriously.

In the action month, Fisheries Departments and Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development are responsible for performing followings:

- strictly punishing those who produce, trade and use the banned, low quality or imitated  agricultural materials, including feed for fish and animals, drugs, pesticides and fertilizers

- inspecting sanitary conditions in facilities of production; animal husbandry, semi-processing, raw materials preservation, seafood and agricultural products processing; farming areas; fishing ports and fishing vessels.

- inspecting livestocks and cattle slaughter, transportation, trading, and consumption as well as fishery product transportation.

Guideline documents, production practices, standards and technical procedures, effective production and aquaculture models will be also disseminated and introduced in this month.
