2016: Vietnam pangasius exports to EU may rebound

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first two months of 2016, Vietnam’s pangasius exports to the EU reached US$40.2 million, up 0.4% compared to the same period last year. In particular, pangasius exports to Spain and German posted a rise of 34% and 14.3%, respectively. However, the figure to the Netherlands fell by 11.6%; and the UK with -11.8% over the same period of 2015.

USDA recognized 45 eligible pangasius factories exporting to the U.S.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) On Mar 9th, 2016, after receiving Document No. 376/QLCL-CL1 of National Agro-Forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance Department (NAFIQAD) under Vietnam Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) under USDA considered and added 22 Vietnam pangasius processing facilities to the list of eligible pangasius and Siluriformes exporters to the U.S.. So far, there are totally 45 eligible pangasius exporters of Vietnam to the U.S.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In Jan-Feb 2016, Vietnam pangasius exports reached US$237.3 million, up 5.6% compared to the same period last year. The export value to 2 largest markets (the U.S. and the EU) reported a year-on-year increase of 14.7% and 0.4%, respectively; making up 40.5% of total exports.

China - promising market of Vietnam pangasius in 2016?

Rise in raw pangasius price

With value plummeting 49% compared to the previous year, Vietnam pangasius exports to the Russian market in the past year was not positive.

Pangasius exports to UK increase sharply
