Jan-Oct 2016: Pangasius farming area in Mekong Delta up 4%

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Vietnam’s aquaculture output in Oct 2016 amounted to 310 thousand MT, up 8.9% compared to the same period last year. The figure in Jan-Oct 2016 estimated at 2,924 thousand MT, up 1.6% compared to the same period last year.

Dong Thap leads Mekong Delta in pangasius output

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In Aug and Sep 2016, Vietnam pangasius exports to China peaked at US$30.9 million and US$30 million, respectively. As of Sep 2016, Vietnam pangasius exports to China -Hong Kong totaled US$201.9 million, up 75.6% over the same period last year. After months of consecutive growth, China has overtaken the EU to become the 2nd largest buyer (behind the U.S.) of Vietnam pangasius.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Currently, Germany stayed as the 4th biggest importer of Vietnam pangasius in the EU (after the UK, the Netherlands and Spain). As of Aug 2016, Vietnam pangasius exports to Germany valued at US$19.7 million, up 4% compared to the same period last year. Out of top 4 largest importing markets in the bloc, shipments to Germany showed the highest growth, while those to others posted the decreases.

As of July 2016, Vietnam pangasius exports to the region valued at US$79.8 million, up 0.2% compared to the same period last year. Out of the bloc, Thailand, Singapore and the Philippines, top 3 largest buyers of Vietnam pangasius, recorded the year-on-year increases of 1.3%; 1.6% and 4.4%, respectively.
