Particularly in February, exports of shellfish increased by 39% over the same period last year to reach 10.4 million USD.

In which, the top 5 markets include the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Italy and France, accounting for 72%. Exports of all major products to the EU grew positively, except pangasius. In which, clam exports grew the most, up 42% and became the 4th largest seafood species in terms of export value to the EU.

Clam is one of the main species of aquaculture in Nam Dinh northern province. The province currently has more than 2,000 ha of clam farming, of which there are 2 large clam farming areas in Giao Thuy district with 1,665 ha, Nghia Hung district with 500 ha, annually supplying from 35 to 40 thousand tons of commercial clams and tens of billions of clam seed to the market.
