Vietnam crab exports to China rose in QII/2013
(vasep.com.vn) According to Vietnam Customs, in the first 6 months of 2013, crab exports to China reported a value of US$3.6 million, up 26.8 percent compared to that of the same period of 2012.
In the second quarter of this year, crab exports to the market attained nearly US$1.7 million, posting a sharp growth of 62.6 percent over that of QII/2012. China is one of markets that has a high purchasing power of crab while demand for the item in other large markets (the U.S, EU and Japan) tends to contract.
In the first 4 months of 2013, China imported 7,313 MT of crab, worth US$48.4 million, up 9 percent in volume and 14 percent in value compared with Jan-Apr 2012. At the same time, China’s crab exports reported a positive growth of 29 percent in volume and 45 percent in value.
