Tashun: Fall in marine fish exports

Chief of Tashun Business Department, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Quoc, said his company’s marine fish export volume in August 2009 dropped 50 percent over the previous month due to decreased materials supply and hiking price of seafood in Khanh Hoa province.

In the first eight months of the year, Tashun exported more than 282MT of marine fish, valued at US$1.52 million. In August alone, it shipped 21.32MT of fish for a value of US$147,000 to Japan.

Quoc said Tashun is currently striving to maintain stable exports of dried seafood and smoked tuna to Japan, but the company’s export fish volume has decreased due to a shortage of raw materials and high price in recent months.
