Due to adverse impacts of typhoons and tropical low pressures, and unpleasant weather conditions, from beginning of the year to now, catch landings in Ninh Thuan province amounted to only 41,173.8MT, equivalent to 83.18 percent of the yearly plan, down nearly 20 percent against the same period last year. The catch includes 39,281.5MT of fish, 1,369.1MT of squid, and 308.9MT of other seafood.
Currently, there are 2,446 fishing vessels operating in local fishing grounds, with a combined capacity of 152,510HP. The provincial Department of Fisheries Resources Protection and Exploitation is intensifying on disseminating information on fishing grounds for local fishers, at the same time, updating information on weather conditions to help fishers minimize losses, speed up catching activities in the late months of the year, and fulfill the yearly plan.
