In the first eight months of the year, it shipped 1,375MT of cephalopods, marine fish, freshwater fish, shrimp, etc. for a value of US$4.5 million to the U.S., South Korea, Italy, France, Taiwan, etc.
Kien Long Seafoods said the demand for cephalopods in South Korea is increasing but due to unstable supplies of raw material, the company is forced to increase share of marine fish in its export structure. By the end of August, 2009, marine fish accounted 60-65 percent of its seafood structure.
Currently, thank to the bumper harvest of shrimp in Kien Giang province, the company is increasing shrimp export volume with the hope of earning more profit.
