Inspecting seafood safety before marketing

Under new regulation issued by MARD

Under new regulation issued by MARD, since November 22, 2009, before being marketed seafood products are required to satisfy following requirements:

- Regarding seafood for domestic consumption

Live and fresh seafood must have adequate information to trace its origin. Pre-processed seafood must meet at least one of following requirements: Produced and traded by a processors, preserving units that are certified as meeting hygiene and food safety conditions; Having quality certificate granted by local competent agencies in compliance with the Procedure that was issued along with Decision No.118/2008-QĐ-BNN;

- Regarding seafood for export

Being produced by a unit that has been certified as meeting hygiene and food safety conditions; Meeting requirements set by competent authorities of target importing markets; Being checked and granted quality, hygiene and food safety certificate in compliance with requirements of importing countries or MARD for specific periods.
