Faquimex: More investment in primary production

For years, Faquimex has been actively invested in producing shrimp and Pangasius juveniles and intensive farming of these species. The close production chain enables the company to ensure qualified raw material supplies for processing.

Faquimex’s 750-ha intensive black tiger shrimp farming area in Ba Tri, Binh Dai, and Thanh Phu yields high output, about 7MT per ha per year. Its 180-ha of intensive Pangasius farming area yields more than 200MT per ha, and the average production of more than 20,000MT of raw fish a year.

Currently, the black tiger shrimp hatcheries in Ninh Thuan with the capacity of 100 million PL, and fish hatcheries in An Giang with the capacity of 24 million fries can satisfy the company’s demand for SPS seeds. Faquimex-run farming regions has applied GAP, which assures traceability, and qualified for ACC’s BAP standards for farmed seafood.

In addition to building farming zones, Faquimex also has a fishing fleet which with an annual catch landings of 3,000-3,500MT of marine fish per year.By the middle of August 2009 Faquimex earned US$13.16 million from exporting 6,168MT of seafood.
