(vasep.com.vn) Through October 2013, shrimp farmers in Vietnam harvested over 396.9 thousand MT, up 38 percent year-on-year on the stocking area of 650 hectares, completing the yearly plan.

(vasep.com.vn) So far this year, farmers in Tra Vinh province have shifted to rear whiteleg shrimp, leading to sharp increase of 7 thousand MT in vannamei production and black tiger shrimp output also rose 2 thousand MT. However, pangasius output reduced 7 thousand MT.

(vasep.com.vn) Taking the lead in the fish output in Vietnam, fisheries industry in Ca Mau province is speeding up to reach the target of US$1.2 billion in seafood export turnover and expand the industrial shrimp farming area of 10,000 hectares by 2015.

(IntraFish) A news report on the safety of US shrimp imports originally scheduled to air Wednesday night on ABC news channels in the United States that but cut from the show and rescheduled for Thursday, has once again been rescheduled, Gavin Gibbons of the National Fisheries Institute (NFI) told IntraFish on Friday. Gibbons said he does not know when the show has been rescheduled to air.

(vasep.com.vn) In the mid November 2013, in Ca Mau province, the price of black tiger shrimp sized 20 pieces per kilogram was VND290,000 per kilogram, up VND10,000/kg over the previous week. Shrimp with size 30 pcs/kg was priced at VND230,000/kg (up VND5,000/kg) and VND205,000/kg for size of 40 pcs (up VND10,000/kg).

(vasep.com.vn) Japan’s competent agencies are considering to raise maximum residue limits (MRL) for Ethoxyquin (ETQ) on shrimp originated from Vietnam to 0.2 ppm, 20 times higher than the current level of 0.01ppm.
