Ben Tre: Aquaculture kept a stable growth in 2011

Total harvested aquaculture production of the province recorded 146,670 MT a year-on-year increase of 10.6 percent, fulfilling 92 percent of its year plan. Among that, the output of farmed shrimp reached 21,500 MT (black tiger shrimp with 10,500 MT and  whiteleg shirmp 11,000 MT), pangasius with 100,000 MT.

In the province, there are 3 enterprises investing in high quality pangasius seed production to supply seed for local fish farmers and 13 enterprises certificated by GlobalGAP standards, contributing to stable development of pangasius farming sector.
