In 2010, the province had 2,742.6 ha of shrimp farming area for 2 seasons, up 4.5 percent compared to 2009. In which, the first one was 2,260 ha and the second 482 ha. The total commercial farmed shrimp production reached 5,971 MT, up 16 percent over the same period last year. Farmed whiteleg shrimp production reached more than 5,198 MT. Disease in shrimp is fewer.
In 2011, Binh Dinh will take 4,807 ha of water surface to aquaculture with the estimated production of 9,500 MT, of which 6,500 MT of farmed shrimp production. The province also strengthens the state management on shrimp farming, supervises the implementation of shrimp aquaculture plans, particularly the shrimp farming in sand, checks and supervises the discharge of waste, pollution treatment; directs the strict implementation of seasonal schedule and other technical solutions on shrimp farming.
