Capture output increased by 5.2 percent in Jan-Jul 2014

(vasep.com.vn) Through July 2014, Vietnam’s capture production estimated at 1,644 thousand MT, up 5.2 percent year on year. In which marine catch anticipated to reach 1,542 thousand MT, up 5.3 percent year on year, according to Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

Accordingly, tuna catch in 3 key provinces of Khanh Hoa, Binh Dinh and Phu Yen was estimated at 6,639 MT, up 6.9 percent year on year; 5,801 MT, rising 6.6 percent and 3,320 MT, down 19.3 percent, respectively.

Aquaculture production in July was approximately 368 thousand MT, posting an year-on-year increase of 4 percent, bringing the total aquaculture production in the first 7 months to reach 1,819 thousand MT, a 3.4 percent growth. The farming area for pangasius in the Mekong Delta in the period was 6,200 hectares with the output of 598 thousand MT.

Black tiger shrimp production in July remained stable compared to that of the previous month. However, the farming area and production of the species through July 2014 in some provinces marked a year-on-year decrease. Specifically, the area in Ca Mau was 263,735 hectares (down 1.1 percent) with the production of 67,000 MT (down 0.1 percent); in  Bac Lieu, the area was 113,620 hectares (down 3.2 percent) with production of 30,335 MT (down 2.6 percent). Kien Giang province reported an increase of 2.44 percent in the area and 16.5 percent in production. Black tiger shrimp yields in the Southeast provinces showed a year-on-year decline in which Ba Ria - Vung Tau province downed 4.1 percent and Ho Chi Minh City downed 9.7 percent, reported by Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in the Mekong Delta.

The decision takes effect from the date of signing and replaces previous plans for the 2021–2030 period that had been issued prior to the administrative merger in Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City.

Vietnam pangasius exports in February 2026: China remains the leading market

However, thanks to strong performance in January, cumulative exports in the first two months of the year still reached USD 331 million, up 28% compared to the same period in 2025. Export activity slowed somewhat in February due to seasonal factors, particularly the Lunar New Year holiday, which disrupted production and shipments at many seafood processing enterprises.

Shrimp exports in the first two months of 2026: China drives growth, lobster surges

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In February 2026, Vietnam’s shrimp exports reached nearly USD 310 million, up 17% year-on-year. Cumulatively for the first two months of the year, shrimp export value totaled USD 690 million, an increase of 20% compared with the same period last year. Compared with the 22% growth recorded in January, the pace of increase in February slowed somewhat, reflecting seasonal factors as the Lunar New Year holiday partially disrupted processing and shipment activities. Nevertheless, the nearly 20% growth in the first two months indicates that shrimp orders from Vietnam are maintaining a more positive trend than in the same period last year.
