Ca Mau: Fishery production to gain 530 thousand MT

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In 2017, Ca Mau province strives to reach the fishery production of 530,000 tons in which aquaculture production was 335,000 MT, Mr. Le Thanh Trieu, Director of Ca Mau Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said.

Expected fishery production in 2017 is 39,000 MT higher than that of 2016 in which expected shrimp yield increases by 11,000 MT.

The locality is developing shrimp farming model with high productivity and encourages local fishermen to repair and build new offshore fishing vessels and ensure the stability of fishing waters.

An Giang: Prices of red tilapia and tilapia increase sharply

Recently, traders in the provinces are purchasing red tilapia and tilapia at 50,000–51,000 VND/kg, the highest price ever. With this price, fish are exported to rafts, and farmers earn a 9,000–10,000 VND/kg profit.

According to Vietnam Customs, there were nearly US$31 million pangasius exported to the US in July, up 69% over the same period last year. Cumulative pangasius exports to the US in the first 7 months reached more than US$190 million, up 20%.

Tra Vinh: Intensive shrimp farming brings profits 7-10 times higher
