Spain: On Mercabarna, incoming volumes increased by 6 tonnes during week 14. The most important declines were those in fresh squid and fresh octopus. The most important increases were those in frozen dirty cuttlefish, frozen crushed clean cuttlefish, frozen national squid and frozen Indian squid.

On Mercamadrid, incoming volumes of frozen cephalopods declined and fresh ones increased. The most important drops were those in frozen Galician octopus and frozen squid. The highest rise was reported by fresh squid.

During week 15, prices at first sales remained stable.

On Mercamadrid, prices of cephalopods remained stable, except for that of fresh squid that rose by EUR 0.75/kg. On Mercabarna, the most important variation was that in fresh baby squid, a rise of EUR 0.25/kg.

At French ports, during week 14, squid and cuttlefish volumes increased slightly. Boulogne/Mer was still the main port.

At French ports, prices of squid increased due to the higher demand and those of cuttlefish declined because of the rise in supplies.

Italy

At Italian ports, volumes of squid and octopus declined; those of the rest of cephalopods increased. The main increases were reported by cuttlefish, horned octopus and shortfin squid. The bulkiest volumes were registered at the ports San Benedetto de Tronto with 8,5 tonnes, Ancona with 4,8 tonnes, Cesenatico with 4,8 tonnes, Civitanova Marche with 4,1 tonnes.

Prices on Italian first-sale markets have increased in the case of squid and horned octopus. Those of squid, bobtail, common octopus, shortfin squid and cuttlefish declined.

Portugal

Volumes of octopus landed at Portuguese ports increased by 29 tonnes. The highest volumes were registered at the port Aveiro with 13 tonnes, Viana do Castelo with 6 tonnes, Peniche with 6 tonnes and Figueira da Foz with 4 tonnes.

The average price of octopus increased due to the higher demand on Portuguese markets.
