In light of this trend, Vietnamese enterprises are advised to develop medium and long-term investment strategies, with a focus on producing consumer goods directly in Russia or within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) bloc to benefit from preferential tariffs and optimize transportation costs. Highly competitive products such as processed foods, household goods, electronics, and textiles have strong potential to capture market share if implemented with a well-structured approach.
One effective strategy is to actively participate in trade fairs and exhibitions in Russia to identify business partners, study consumer preferences, and strengthen the Vietnamese brand presence in the local market. Prestigious events such as Vietnam Expo in Russia, ProdExpo or WorldFood Moscow serve as vital platforms to connect with major Russian distributors.
During transactions, businesses must pay particular attention to verifying the credibility of potential partners. Commercial contracts should be carefully prepared with clear legal terms, delivery schedules, and payment methods. For high-value transactions, it is advisable to adopt neutral legal jurisdictions and seek legal counsel or consult the Vietnam Trade Office and Embassy to assess transparency and partner capabilities.
Smart logistics planning is also a critical factor. Two main recommended shipping routes are: maritime transport from Vietnam to Vladivostok Port, and the intermodal rail route via China to Russia, ending at Vorsino Station. These routes are considered safe, cost-effective, and offer delivery times of 25–27 days, suitable for a wide range of goods from food to high-tech components.
In addition, attention must be paid to packaging, labeling, and product certification. Russia enforces strict technical standards. Vietnamese products entering this market must undergo rigorous quality checks, include Russian-language instructions and product information, and comply with EAEU regulations on food safety, pharmaceuticals, electronics, and consumer goods.
