By the end of Q3/2025, Vietnam’s seafood industry recorded a clear recovery as a series of leading companies reported strong profits — some even achieving the highest results in their history. After several quarters struggling with high costs and weakened demand, the latest business results indicate a robust comeback across the industry.

This is one of the highest monthly revenues since the beginning of the year, reflecting solid demand in major markets and faster shipment schedules by exporters. From January to October, shrimp export value reached USD 3.9 billion, up 22% compared to the same period in 2024.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) On October 31, 2025, the US Court of International Trade (CIT) officially issued an order to suspend the case filed by the National Fisheries Institute (NFI), the National Restaurant Association (NRA), and several US seafood companies against the US Government concerning the implementation of the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA).

According to data released by the General Statistics Office, Vietnam’s total aquatic production in the third quarter of 2025 reached over 2.71 million tons, up 3.3% year-on-year. Cumulatively, in the first nine months of 2025, the country’s total aquatic production exceeded 7.26 million tons, an increase of 3.2% compared to the same period last year.

As the largest seafood trade event in Latin America, the exhibition aims to strengthen intra-continental trade in the region and promote Brazil’s domestic seafood market.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Among Vietnam’s wild-caught sector,blue swimming crab fishing is one of the sectors with the highest export value, ranking only after tuna fishing and currently employing around 20,000 fishers. Vietnam’s crab fishing focuses mainly on two species: the red swimming crab and the blue swimming crab (BSC). While red swimming crab is caught across the country, blue BSC is primarily harvested in An Giang province.

In this context, Vietnam has emerged as a bright spot, as exports of fish paste and surimi reached over USD 257 million in the first nine months, up 26% compared to the same period in 2024.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to a report from Vietnam Fisheries Surveillance Department, nearly 711,000 hectares of brackish-water shrimp were farmed nationwide in the first eight months of 2025, reaching 99.2% of the annual plan. Of this area, black tiger shrimp accounted for 604,500 hectares (100.18%), while whiteleg shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) covered 106,500 hectares (93.9%).

(seafood.vasp.com.vn) As part of its 2025 agricultural, forestry, and fisheries development plan, Tay Ninh province has set a target of 174,800 tons in aquaculture and capture fisheries production, of which pangasius alone accounting for 126,000 tons. This highlights pangasius as the species driving the province's aquaculture development strategy.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to Vietnam Customs, Vietnam’s tilapia exports (including red tilapia) reached over USD 63 million in the first 8 months of 2025, up 174% from the same period last year. This figure exceeded Vietnam’s tilapia export value over the past five years, since 2020. The US remained the largest importer, accounting for 62% of Vietnam’s tilapia exports.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Amid ongoing challenges in Vietnam’s shrimp sector due to disease outbreaks, high costs, and fierce international competition, several exporters in the Mekong Delta have boldly developed saltwater tilapia farming as a strategic move. Tilapia is not only easy to raise and low-risk but also helps improve pond environments and enhance shrimp farming efficiency.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first 7 months of 2025, Vietnam’s pangasius exports reached over USD 1.2 billion, up 11% compared to the same period in 2024. In July alone, export volume totaled 88,726 tons, up slightly by 0.2% from June and 8% year-on-year – the highest level since the beginning of the year.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In August 2025, Vietnam’s shrimp exports reached USD 479 million, up nearly 19% compared to the same period in 2024. Cumulatively over the first 8 months, export turnover hit USD 2.97 billion, an increase of 23%, maintaining stable growth since the beginning of the year.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Despite investing in world-class technology, Vietnamese seafood enterprises are still struggling to access the EU due to the IUU yellow card, stringent regulations and limited distribution channels.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) An Giang ranks third in the Mekong Delta in terms of brackish water shrimp farming area, yet its shrimp production is only in fifth place. In reality, the province’s shrimp sector is developing more slowly compared to many other localities in the region.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In July 2025, aquaculture production in An Giang Province remained stable and showed positive development. The scale of farming and aquatic product harvest continued to increase compared to the same period last year. At the same time, the province has been restructuring its capture fisheries sector by reducing the number of nearshore fishing vessels while increasing the fleet operating in offshore and distant waters. This shift aims to ensure more sustainable exploitation of aquatic resources and improve economic efficiency for fishermen.

According to the Đà Nẵng City Statistics Office, fisheries activities in July 2025 remained stable with fishing fleets effectively operating offshore and overall output rising slightly compared to the same period last year. The total fisheries output for the city in July 2025 was estimated at 14.3 thousand tons, up 0.8% (+116 tons) year-on-year. For the first seven months of 2025, total fisheries output was estimated at over 108 thousand tons, an increase of 2.6% (+2.7 thousand tons) compared to the same period last year; of which fish reached 77.5 thousand tons (+3.6%; +2.7 thousand tons), shrimp nearly 13 thousand tons (+1.1%; +139 tons) and other aquatic products 17.8 thousand tons (-0.4%; -71 tons).
