MARD to strengthen control on imported frozen fish products

(vasep.com.vn) On November 14th 2012, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) sent Ministry of Finance (MoF) the official letter No. 3928/BNN-TY on managing, controlling imported frozen fish products. MARD requested MoF that:

1. To allow enterprises to return imported frozen fish to their storages where fish products are quarantined and tested pursuant to current regulations of food safety and hygiene. The storages must meet conditions for veterinary hygiene and their operations must be controlled by veterinary authorities.

2. To strictly treat fish consignments which fail to meet requirements of quarantine and food safety and hygiene and consignments without certification for quarantine and food safety and hygiene before being circulated into the market.
