(vasep.com.vn) On 14th November 2012, Vietnam Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) organized an award-granting ceremony to honor winners of the first biennial Vietnam Golden Rice Award. This year, five seafood companies which are members of Vietnam Association of Seafood Processors and Exporters (VASEP) received the award.

(vasep.com.vn) Vietnam’s pangasius sector will achieve its target to certify ten per cent of the country’s pangasius production for export under the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) standard by the end of 2012. This achievement was recognized during an event in Ho Chi Minh City today to share progress across the sector and commend certified Vietnamese pangasius producers.

(vasep.com.vn) Hung Vuong Corporation (HOSE code: HVG) said that it bought 3 million of shares of Viet Thang Feed Joint Stock Company (HOSE code: VTF).

(vasep.com.vn) In the third quarter of 2012, Ca Mau Frozen Seafood Processing Import Export Corporation (Camimex – HOSE code: CMX) totaled a revenue of VND256 billion, down 9.69 percent from the compatible quarter of 2011. Post-tax profit was down by 66.46 percent to VND1.4 billion, according to the company’s business statement.

(vasep.com.vn) 2012 has been a tough year for seafood business community in Vietnam. However, Da Nang Sea Products Import-Export Corporation (Seaprodex Danang) still obtained good result in sales abroad. Between January and October this year, the company has exported 3,000 MT of seafood products to earn back US$21.77 million, equal to those in the compatible time in 2011.

(vasep.com.vn) In September 2012, Halong Service and Import Export Joint Stock Company (Halong Simexco) earned US$255.5 thousand of seafood exports. This led to total of US$2.27 million in the first nine months of the year.

(vasep.com.vn) On 10th October 2012, Cargill Vietnam Ltd (Cargill Vietnam) kicked off its new processing plant for aquatic feed in Hung Yen province. The processing chain costed US$4 million and was equipped with the state-of-the-art technologies. Currently, Cargill owns 4 feed processing plants in Vietnam with total production capacity of 200 thousand MT per year.

(vasep.com.vn) Mekong Fisheries Joint Stock Company (Mekongfish Co – HOSE code: AAM) announced its business report in the third quarter of 2012. The company’s net revenue totaled VND97.25 billion, while it earned VND170.6 billion in the previous year’s third quarter.

(vasep.com.vn) In the first nine months of 2012, Minh Phu Seafood Corp exported 23,034 MT of frozen shrimp in all products to earn US$268.627 million. The figures were up 22.56 percent in volume and 17.16 percent in value from the compatible time in 2011. Frozen shrimp trade in September 2012 went down from that reported in August 2012 in both volume and value.

(vasep.com.vn) In the first half of 2012, monthly export volume of TG Fishery Holdings Corporation (TG Corp) reached 600 – 650 MT of finished pangasius products. As of July 2012, the company sped up exporting and reached over 1,000 MT and export in August and September reached over 1,800 MT of finished pangasius products.

(vasep.com.vn) With nearly 70 exporting and processing companies in which their processing facilities are equipped modern equipments and controlled in accordance with HACCP, Vietnamese pangasius products are being exported to 145 countries and territories worldwide such as EU, the U.S., ASEAN, Canada, the Middle East, China, Japan, etc. Fish export volume and value to markets reported steady annual growth of 10 - 18 percent, worth by US$1.8 - 2 billion per year in two recent years.

(vasep.com.vn) In the first nine months of 2012, Trong Nhan Seafood Co., Ltd exported 1,782 MT of shrimp to the EU, South Korea, Australia, Japan to earn US$13.255 million, representing a rise from 1,694 MT and US$10.159 million of the same period of 2011.

(vasep.com.vn) In the first three quarters of 2012, SaoTa Foods Joint Stock Company (Fimex VN) processed and sold 4,692 MT of shrimp products, bringing total revenue of US$51 million. The figures were equal to 91.6 percent in volume and 83.6 percent in value compared to those of the corresponding time in 2011.

These hatcheries import shrimp broodstock from Hawaii and produce juveniles locally in supply for the aquaculture.

(vasep.com.vn) In 2012, Vinafish Import Export Corporation (Vinafish Corp) targets to gain US$15 million from pangasius sales abroad. In the first three quarters of the year, the company totaled nearly US$10 million of revenue; so it needs to speed up exporting panga in the last three months of the year and earn further US$5 million to reach the yearly target.
