(vasep.com.vn) Lack of capital for producing, processing to export, low demand in EU market, barrier of Ethoxyquin testing in Japan and hiking input cost strongly affected to fisheries production and exports in the Q.III/2012. The decline in shrimp and pangasius exports in consecutive three months led to total seafood export turnover of US$1.62 billion in the 3rd quarter, up only 3.4 percent over that of the 2nd quarter and down 5.3 percent over the compatible quarter of 2011.

Seafood firms would have to pay as much as VND70 billion of bank guarantee fees a year when importing materials, estimated the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

Seafood companies that import raw materials for processing exports have asked the Government to extend their 275-day grace period for paying import duties.

(vasep.com.vn) In September 2012, Anvifish Joint Stock Company (Anvifish Co) received representatives from Myronivsky Hliboproduct (MHP) - a leading company in Ukraine’s agro-industrial sector, to visit the company. The two parties planned to develop sales of pangasius products in the Ukraine market.

(pangasius-vietnam.com) Godaco Seafood Joint Stock Company (Godaco) is one of the first companies in the Ben Tre province to participate in the ASC (Aquaculture Stewardship Council) certification program. Tien Giang-based firm is applying ASC standards on its pangasius farming of 10 hectares in Thanh Long, Ben Tre province.

(vasep.com.vn) In the eight months of 2012, New Wind Seafood Co., Ltd brought back US$8 million from shrimp export, in which Japan accounted 90 percent of its sales. The rest was shipped to South Korea and the U.S. New Wind Seafood traded high value products like breaded shrimp, tempura shrimp,…This period, sales to South Korea and the U.S. remained stable; but shrimp prices paid by Korean buyers were lower than those by Japanese ones.
