Ngoc Tri Seafood to reach US$7 million of shrimp exports
(vasep.com.vn) Through October 2013, Ngoc Tri Seafood Company (Ngoc Tri Seafood) generated US$27 million of shrimp exports; 40 percent of which came from the EU, the rest was from Japan, South Korea, Middle East and the U.S.
The U.S. is showing a strong consumption demand for shrimp to serve the year’s end holidays. However, there is not enough shrimp in the market, leading to the strong increased price of shirmps in the market.
Ngoc Tri Seafood targets to reach US$7 million from shrimp sales abroad in November and December this year.
This year, Vietnam reported the same shrimp production as that of last year. However, fresh raw shrimps were directly purchased by middle traders at ponds to go to China, leading to lack of raw material for local processing plants. In July and August 2013, the shrimp price increased by 30 percent compared to that in the previuous months.
