News 14:46 08/03/2022 Lê Hằng
(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In 2022, the pangasius industry is expected to produce about 1.6-1.7 million tons of commercial pangasius; Pangasius export turnover reached over 1.6 billion USD. This is the plan said by Mr. Nhu Van Can, Director of the Aquaculture Department, Directorate of Fisheries at the Conference on implementing the development plan of the pangasius industry in 2022 organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Hanoi. Can Tho on February 25.

According to Ms. To Thi Tuong Lan, Deputy General Secretary of the Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), it is forecasted that the export price of pangasius to all markets will increase, so the export value of pangasius will increase. 20-25% compared to 2021; Pangasius export price is forecasted to increase by about 5%.

In markets like the US, where the price is as high as 3.95 USD/kg, the price in China has also increased. The import market recovered and grew well, in which, mainly in 4 main groups including China with a breakthrough of 31%, the US by 23%, the countries of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) by 13% and the EU recovered 6.6%,...

Sharing the same view that pangasius exports will prosper in 2022, Mr. Tran Van Hung, General Director of Hung Ca Company Limited (Dong Thap province) expressed that there will be many advantages in raw material prices and pangasius export prices, pangasius output will increase sharply from the end of 2022-2023.

The price of raw pangasius in the Mekong Delta increased sharply again

Petrol prices have increased, the world price of marine fish has increased, and sea fishing has also been and will continue to be limited, so Vietnam's freshwater farmed fish (pangasius) will have a better place in the world market. .

From April 2-4, 2022, the price of raw pangasius is about 30,000 VND/kg, the distribution price of frozen pangasius fillets in the US has also increased to 8-8.5 USD/kg but there is no stock, new supply. Very limited frozen fish fillets. Therefore, the price of pangasius will continue to increase.

Since the beginning of 2022, the price of pangasius has increased very high, which is an opportunity for people and businesses to continue to invest and develop production.

In addition to weather and climate, markets and trade barriers are also challenges for the pangasius industry. The new generation of free trade agreements are both a challenge and an opportunity for Vietnamese pangasius products to continue to be exported to the EU and US markets... However, the increasingly strict requirements from the import market require the pangasius industry in our country to make efforts to meet.

In 2021, the farming area of pangasius in the Mekong Delta was 5,856.7 hectares (an increase of more than 10% compared to the same period in 2020). The localities with the most concentrated stocking areas include An Giang, Dong Thap, Long An, and Ben Tre.
