Among them, dried, salted, fresh, and frozen crab products account for the highest proportion. Compared to the same period in 2023, exports of Vietnam's crabs all variety increased over the same period.
Vietnam's crabs have been exported to 22 markets around the world. Currently, inflation in many countries has been controlled, and the economy is gradually recovering, boosting consumption demand. Therefore, exports to main markets this quarter mostly increased compared to the same period in 2023.
Vietnam's crab exports in March 2024 earned more than 18 million USD, an increase of 66% over the same period in 2023. This result was a signal showing the recovery of consumption demand in markets.
China and Hong Kong, Japan, the US, Canada, and the UK were the five single markets importing the most crabs and other crustaceans from Vietnam during this period. Compared to the same period last year, Vietnam's exports of this product group to the four leading markets increased, while exports to the UK decreased.
Notably, in this quarter, exports of crabs and other crustaceans to China and Hong Kong increased dramatically by 395% compared to the same period in 2023. With this growth rate, China and Hong Kong are taking the lead in importing the group of this product from Vietnam. Along with China, Vietnam's exports of this product group to Australia and Singapore are also growing at a high three-digit rate. One of the reasons for this growth is that the first quarter coincided with the Lunar New Year holiday in China and other Asian countries, so demand increased.
This quarter, Vietnam has more than 93 crab exporters. Top 3 exporters include Trung Son Long An Co., Ltd., Bach Dang International Co., Ltd., and Hoang Ha International Logistics.
