Ca Mau seafood export turnover increased

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Despite the decrease in import demand in August compared to previous months due to high inflation, especially main markets such as the US, EU, Japan, the Ca Mau seafood export turnover still achieved positive results, bringing approximately 1 billion USD.

Specifically, up to now, the province's export turnover has reached 962.9 million USD, equaling 83.7% of the plan, up 40.6% over the same period. In which, seafood export reached 799.2 million USD, equaling 74.7% of the plan, up 25.7% over the same period; fertilizer export reached 163.5 million USD, exceeding 109.6 % of the year plan.

The area of super-intensive shrimp farming continues to increase when up to now, there are 4,156.8 ha/4,365 households stocking. Along with that, the extensive shrimp farming area has improved over 171,469 hectares and is currently stocking 100%, which will be an abundant source of raw materials for export demand at the end of the year.

“According to information from seafood import and export processing factories in the province, currently export orders have been signed with foreign partners until December 2022 and are continuing to negotiate. The agreement is signed for the next stages, so shrimp prices in the coming time will be stable and less volatile,” said Mr. Chau Cong Bang, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

According to Mr. Chau Cong Bang, it is forecasted that this year Ca Mau will continue to achieve the third consecutive time with a seafood export turnover of over 1 billion USD, despite market fluctuations due to the impact of pandemic and conflicts and inflation. 

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Su said that the socio-economic development recovery programs and policies of the Government, ministries, central branches and Ca Mau province have brought into play their effects, helping businesses to step up processing and export activities. At the same time, the province's seafood exporters have made good use of the advantages from the Free Trade Agreements, contributing to increasing the province's seafood export turnover to the US and the EU , Canada, Australia, China markets.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to a report by the General Statistics Office, the estimated pangasius output for January 2025 reached 102.5 thousand tons, representing a 6.0% increase compared to the corresponding period of the preceding year. This surge is attributed to the rise in pangasius material prices within the Mekong Delta, which has incentivized aquaculture farmers to expand their stocking activities. Concurrently, this price increase has facilitated processing enterprises to intensify procurement efforts to meet export demands during the early part of the year.
