Binh Dinh: Production of white leg shrimp rose by 47%

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to Binh Dinh Department of Fisheries (DARD), up to now, brackish shrimp farmers in some farming areas in the province have started to harvest farmed shrimp with a total harvested area of 30.3 hectares, volume production reached more than 870 tons, an increase of 47% over the same period in 2018.

Reportedly, the first crop of brackish shrimp farming this year, the whole province stocked over 1,766 hectares (white leg shrimp was 367.6 hectares, tiger shrimp was 1,408.6 hectares) equivalent to the area of shrimp farming in the same period in 2018. Thanks to the control of good seed shrimp, farmers comply with the seasonal schedule and apply the right process of disease prevention. Therefore, the first shrimp crop has reduced disease remarkably. Up to now, the province has only detected white spot disease and disease caused by environmental pollution with a total area of nearly 15 hectares.
