VND100 million fine for food safety violation
(vasep.com.vn) In November 8th 2012, the government issued the Decree No. 91/2012/NĐ-CP on the sanction of administrative violations in food safety.
The maximum fine for a food safety violation is VND100 million.Depending on the levels of violation, individuals and organizations can be subject to one or more additional sanctions, such as withdrawing food safety certifications; confiscation of dossiers for receipt of food standard announcements.
VND30 million - 50 million will be applied to using chemicals that are banned from use in food processing and production. The additional sanctions are that violators will also have their food safety certificates revoked for between nine to twelve months.
The Decree will take effect as of December 25th 2012.
