(vasep.com.vn) Vietnam seafood exports in 2013 are hoped to hit over US$6.5 billion, up 5 percent year-on-year, mainly due to sharp increase in vannamei exports. However, lack of raw shrimp may negatively affect seafood export target this year.

(vasep.com.vn) Phu Cuong Seafood Processing and Import Export (Phu Cuong Jostoco Corp) exported 41.8 MT of shrimp products for US$587.9 thousand of revenue in October 2013, according to the company’s financial statement. The year-to-date exports were 994.4 MT of shrimp worth US$9.3 million.

(vasep.com.vn) In May 2013, Gepimex 404 Company (Gepimex 404) shipped 468 MT of seafood products abroad earning US$862 thousand. In the first five months of the year, seafood export totaled 2,197 MT with a value of US$3.8 million.

The 15th Vietnam Fisheries International Exhibition (VIETFISH 2013) opened on June 25 in Ho Chi Minh City to promote the country’s seafood trademark to global markets.

In April, Vietnam exported pangasius products for USD 146.3 million, up 1.8 per cent over the same period of 2012. Meanwhile, in January–April 2013, pangasius exports brought in USD 534.8 million, down 6 per cent year-on-year.

More than 160 companies and organisations will take part in the Viet Nam International Fisheries Exhibition, or Vietfish 2013, to be held from June 25-27 at the Sai Gon Exhibition and Convention Centre in District 7.
