(vasep.com.vn) In the period of 5 years (2007 – 2011), total seafood importvalue of Vietnam has surged by 118 percent in which 80 – 85 percent served for processing and exporting.

(vasep.com.vn) On 10th October 2012, Cuu Long Fish Stock Company (CL-Fish Corp) was granted the Global Aquaculture Alliance’s Best Aquaculture Practice (BAP) certificate for its pangasius farm and processing plant by Global Trust Certification.

Seafood firms would have to pay as much as VND70 billion of bank guarantee fees a year when importing materials, estimated the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

Seafood companies that import raw materials for processing exports have asked the Government to extend their 275-day grace period for paying import duties.

(vasep.com.vn) In September 2012, Anvifish Joint Stock Company (Anvifish Co) received representatives from Myronivsky Hliboproduct (MHP) - a leading company in Ukraine’s agro-industrial sector, to visit the company. The two parties planned to develop sales of pangasius products in the Ukraine market.

(pangasius-vietnam.com) Godaco Seafood Joint Stock Company (Godaco) is one of the first companies in the Ben Tre province to participate in the ASC (Aquaculture Stewardship Council) certification program. Tien Giang-based firm is applying ASC standards on its pangasius farming of 10 hectares in Thanh Long, Ben Tre province.

(vasep.com.vn) In the eight months of 2012, New Wind Seafood Co., Ltd brought back US$8 million from shrimp export, in which Japan accounted 90 percent of its sales. The rest was shipped to South Korea and the U.S. New Wind Seafood traded high value products like breaded shrimp, tempura shrimp,…This period, sales to South Korea and the U.S. remained stable; but shrimp prices paid by Korean buyers were lower than those by Japanese ones.

(vasep.com.vn) From January to September 2012, Yueh Chyang Canned Food earned US$56 million of seafood export, of which 60 percent came from the U.S. The EU markets consumed 30 percent of the company’s products, down 5 percent from the same period last year, mostly due to less sales of swimming crab. In contrast, Long An-based firm’s seafood sales to Asian and Middle East markets went up 5 percent and accounted for 10 percent of the company’s total revenue.

(vasep.com.vn) In the first eight months of 2012, Quy Nhon Frozen Seafoods Joint Stock Company (Seaprodex F16) shipped more shrimp products to new foreign markets, boosting its overall export volume and value by 20 percent to 800 MT and US$5 million compared to the same time of last year.

(Vietnam News Brief) Hung Vuong Group, Vietnam’s leading pangasius fish exporter, has spent VND74 billion ($3.56 million) on buying Viet Dan Seafood Feed Factory from Dong Thap Seafood Import Export and Processing JSC.

(vasep.com.vn) From January to August 2012, Hasa Seafood Corporation (Hasaco) saw drop of 10 percent in pangasius export to the EU. Beside this destination, the company sold fish products to some martkets in Asia and South Africa, so less fish sales in the EU did not affected heavily to business of the company.

(vasep.com.vn) In July 2012, Gepimex 404 exported 844 MT of seafood products to earn US$1.6 million. In which, the company exported directly 675 MT of seafood and 169 MT of entrusted export.

(vasep.com.vn) Minh Phu Seafood Corporation (Minh Phu Seafood Corp) exported 20,539 MT of seafood products and generated US$241.2 million in the first eight months of 2012. The figures were up 27.65 percent in volume and 23.91 percent in value over the corresponding period of 2011.
