(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first half of this year, Vietnam pangasius exports reached US$790.2 million, up 5.4% year on year. Exports to the US, China-Hong Kong and Brazil reported the year-on-year growth but exports to EU, ASEAN, Mexico, Colombia, Saudi Arabia saw the reduction.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Vietnam pangasius exports in April, 2016 reached ovear US$142 million, up 13% compared to the same month of last year. The cumulative figure in the first 4 months of 2016 valued at US$507.5 million, up 5.2% year on year. Importing markets and main products are as follows:

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) As of June 15th 2016, ASEAN was the 4th largest pangasius importer of Vietnam (after the US, EU, China - Hong Kong). This was a potential importing market of Vietnam in 2015. However, in some recent months, the shipments to this market showed a slight decrease.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first 6 months of 2015, Vietnam pangasius exports to the UK was up 41% year on year. The UK was the 4th largest importer of Vietnam pangasius in the EU bloc after Spain, the Netherlands and Germany.

As a result, pangasius processors don’t dare to expand their production scale, delay the contracts or cancel the contracts in the peak season. (seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to the statistics of Vietnam Customs, Vietnam enterprises earned the revenue of US$507.54 million in pangasius exports in the first 4 months of 2016, up 5.2% year on year. The figure in Apr 2016 estimated at US$142.08 million, up 13% compared to Apr 2015.

In the period, exports to some main markets showed the decline (the EU: -6.8%; ASEAN: -0.4%; Mexico: -32.8%; Colombia: -20.3%; Saudi Arabia: -11.8%) compared to the same period last year while exports to the 3 large markets (the U.S., China - Hong Kong and specially Brazil) registered a year-on-year rise of 3.4%; 48.2% and 542.2%, respectively.
