The video detailing the Gulf Seafood Trace traceability, entitled “Your Seafood Has a Story: Gulf Seafood Trace," received Bronze Telly awards in the 2013 Film/Video competition in the “Nature/Wildlife” and “Corporate Training” categories of the 34th Annual Telly Awards recently.

The video was chosen from nearly 12,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries. It tells the story of an innovative traceability program which has helped put Gulf seafood businesses in the forefront of seafood technology.

GCR, Inc., Fire on the Bayou, and the Gulf States Marine Fisheries Commission (GSMFC) collaborated to create the video to promote the Gulf Seafood Trace program. It uses multiple interviews filmed on location across the Gulf Coast featuring leading faces of the seafood industry. The video runs six minutes and 10 seconds and can be seen on the Gulf Seafood Trace website, on YouTube.

Launched in 2012, Gulf Seafood Trace was created by the Marine Resource State Directors of the Gulf States Marine Fisheries Commission with funding provided by the US Department of Commerce through NOAA Fisheries. It is a voluntary electronic traceability program that follows U.S. Gulf of Mexico seafood from the Gulf to the plate to ensure confidence in the consumer market. To date, Gulf Seafood Trace program users have entered over 26 million pounds of seafood collectively, and in some cases, the program has helped increase business up to 18 percent.

The Telly Awards were founded in 1979 and are the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cableTV commercials and programs; the finest video and film productions; and online commercials, video, and films.
