Ocean tuna of Binh Dinh province will have a stable market

News 09:52 09/12/2021 Le Hanh
(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Ocean tuna is a key export product of Binh Dinh province's seafood industry. Therefore, this locality has constantly come up with solutions to help fishermen safely stick to the sea to catch. The Binh Dinh Ocean Tuna Production and Consumption Chain Project has and will help tuna products have stable output and high selling prices.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (Agriculture and Rural Development) of Binh Dinh province, there are more than 3,200 offshore fishing vessels in this locality, of which nearly half practice ocean tuna fishing with a catch of about 11,000 tons/year.

Recently, Binh Dinh Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has cooperated with Mai Tin Food Company Limited (an enterprise with 100% Japanese capital, based in Khanh Hoa province) to build a project on the chain of production and consumption of ocean tuna of Binh Dinh.

The goal of the project is to build a sustainable link chain, tuna products with stable output and high selling price. In addition to increasing income for fishermen, the project also aims to increase the brand value of "Binh Dinh Tuna", creating a source of stable quality raw materials to meet the processing and export needs of enterprises.

Participating in the project are 30 tuna fishing boats of fishermen in Hoai Nhon town. These ships are supported by Binh Dinh province in training, transferring scientific and technical advances, and providing financial support for fishermen to invest in machinery and equipment for exploitation and product preservation according to Japanese technology.

Enterprises in charge of cooperation to implement the project will buy all tuna products under contracts signed with ship owners at prices higher than market prices. Currently, Mai Tin Food Company Limited has completed the construction of phase 1 of a processing factory in Nhon Hoi Economic Zone (Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province) with a capacity of 8,000 tons/year.

Mr. Tran Van Phuc, Director of Binh Dinh Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that in the past, ocean tuna caught by Binh Dinh fishermen was exported to Japan by air, so the transportation cost was too high. Now, the products of Mai Tin Food Co., Ltd. are filleted, frozen quickly and exported by sea, so the quality is guaranteed and the economic efficiency is higher.
